Thursday Tid-Bits

This is thursday morning tid-bits... just a few...

1. It was a rough morning... darb insisted on eating at 5am, at 5:30 I found him in a huge pool of puked up formula that I had just fed him... I just changed those sheets yesterday... I cleaned him up and he just smiled and laughed and held on to my t-shirt. He thankfully went back to bed... but since changing his sheets his such a HUGE chore with all the stuff in the crib... i ended up just putting him back in the crib on the other side, the clean side... that might sound awful of me to do, but you know you'd do it too if you were half asleep.

2. I get my next Bones netflix dvd today in the mail... booyah!

3. I feel like a nerd when i have to make lots of phone calls to people (medical people mostly), and tell them i don't know who i am supposed to talk to, explain everything, have them forward me, and still i get the wrong person to talk to... blah.

4. I watch much too much noggin.

5. Today we need to get some apple juice... darb has just been so constipated! We're checking things off of our list to try to help him... apple juice is next!

6. We had an evaluation this week with a physical therapy/child development services... it was good because she saw EVERYTHING about darby, which i was just so glad she was able to see... but also kind of hard for me, because I really learned how far behind darby is and how the next couple years are going to be a little tougher than expected. Good but bad, but good. Darby shows promise in his skills, and fortunately we are going to get a WHOLE LOT of services, for free.... physical therapy, occupational therapy, infant massage, child development, and vision services.

7. Darb rolled over! He mostly now just likes to be on his side, since he hates being on his tummy. He rolls to his side, then often falls asleep. Its his new favorite sleeping position.

8. I'm feeling stircrazyish... maybe I should get the car? .... Yay! Jason is going to bring it home and I get to go out... now where to go???

9. Whoever thought up that TV shows needs finales and then openers 3-4 months later, needs to know that was just plain stupid and awful. People like me, with no patience, can't handle that!

10. Can't wait for Jason to get home... then i get to hand him the baby and work on my art project that I've been working on since yesterday... I hope to finish it tonight!!!

Those are good enough musings for today. I will update later on other Darby things... but I'm still waiting for phone calls from medical people :0)

Random Musings

So this evening, I have decided to add pictures to my random musings post:

This is how having babies can take over your life ....
Our 'adult' food is like a side note to the bag of sweet potato puree cubes, the trays of pears, and the long container full of frozen bmilk. I just shopped at Trader Joes last night for some essentials so that we didn't starve... if you notice the boxes of TJ food.
Yes, Mom, you know the goodness that is in those green boxes! Carmelized Onion, ham, and gruyere cheese torte-pizzas!

This is Uncle Karl and Darbs, just watching Golf. Wow, Darb looks scared... but he was happy, so its okay.

This is Darby's closet. It was a really really good diaper sale... So i just stocked up, for possibly the next couple months! Those are all size 4 and 5, and we have two packs of size 3 left, which he is currently in. Hopefully we're doing good in the diaper department.

This is the other way that children take over your life... they take over your kitchen cupboards.
This is affectionately called, Darby's shelf. It has his medicines, bowls, syringes, and canned baby food. We mostly use the homemade stuff, but have Organic canned stuff for on-the-go, and the prunes to keep him regular...ish.

This is the upclose version of the shelf. Lots of food back there... another really good sale. The Earth's Best brand that I prefer had the jars for a pretty good sale, so I stocked up on stage 2 foods (the best price for those since those are usually more expensive) and on foods that I probably wouldn't be able to make very well myself.

This is a Darby Morning Cocktail... these are all of his morning medicines. Today is his second day of taking them all orally and not in his milk. He is doing REALLY good. He barely even makes a face! He sometimes just makes a strange face when you change to another grape medicine from the cherry kind... but anyone would do that :0) We repeat this again at night, but just with the top three.
Oh! We went shopping last week!!! We went to Giggle, this fabulous baby store. Its more high end and so it has better products... which don't get me started on how upset I am about that... But we found some great stuff that I had been looking for! I've really been itching to leave the 'babies-r-us' world and enter the world of all natural and organic products, or just products that aren't babies-r-us cookie cutter like... I want stuff that is healthy for my child! Is that too much to ask? Also, these specialty stores usually have really awesome products that are super innovative.

This down here are Darby's new fruit buddies! Yeah, he doesn't care much for them now. But I am hopeful for the day that he can sit on his own and reach out and grab these guys and chew on them! They are made out of organic cotton and I think they are cute.
This is his new Whoosit Blankie! Who doesn't love a blankie and a toy? Whoosit, made my Manhattan Toys, is that cute circle guy with the red nose. Whoosit was a toy I happened into by chance at Christmas time, and it was darby's christmas present. Now I've found out that its one of the best ranked toys out there :0) darby sure likes him.

And our awesome new favorite.... Whoosit Whatzat! When you put his blue hand on his pink nose, he makes a sound! There are a couple different sounds and Darby loves them!
Here is Sophie! Our french giraffe... apparently Sophie has been the best baby toy since 1960 something, and its made of completely safe-all natural, food grade rubber and paint. She has a wonderful squeker and lots of areas for darby to nibble on and hold. He really likes her already!
Last, but not least, Darby's new paci's! I liked our NUK pacis and we've used them forever, but I have noticed how they collect hairballs in them and since they are more than one piece, water and other junk gets inside of them... therefore, they can mold or get super germy. So since Darby is almost 6 months and ready for the paci size change, i thought it was also a good time to change pacifiers. These are made by Nattursutten, and are made of all natural rubber. There are no colors or chemicals in them and they are just one piece... no nooks or ridges for gross stuff to hide. It took about 3 hours, and he got used to them! They're fantastic and I love them :0)

Thursday Tid-Bits

1. I'm watching baby Einstein, baby Mozart, and its ridiculous. Baby praise is much better.
2. I'm thinking about how thankful i am and how good God is to bring us back to california.
3. I'm thinking of 2 specific reasons at the moment of why i'm thankful for that : keara and amber.
4. darby keeps doing this weird 'arm shake because i think i'm falling' thing. i don't know why it concerns me, but maybe i'll ask the doctor sometime.
5. or maybe i'm just a new mom.
6. i'm looking forward to not breast feeding anymore.
7. i know, i'm going to get 'letters' for saying that, but i'm just looking forward to not having to keep up with pumping all the time and all the dishes that ensue.
8. man, how big of a diet coke can i get?
9. i've always liked thursdays
10. thursdays mean that tomorrow is friday
11. friday is start of daddy taking care of darby weekend
12. but daddy and i made a new deal...
13. i'll get up in the morning and let him sleep in... if i can get a good 3hr nap later in the afternoon.
14. darb had really good tummy time today
15. i need to get groceries but i'm trying to wait till april... could it come faster?
16. i found funny old memorabilia that jason had from his freshmen year of college.
17. i need to make the baby einstein stop.....
18. woo hoo it stopped... now onto baby praise
19. i'm realizing how self centered i am
20. i need to be God centered
21. darby has grown on me by leaps and bounds this week. i can't tell you how much i love him.
22. darby has learned to raspberry when a spoon is held to his mouth... oh help us.
23. darby's hair is his comfort 'thing'. cracks me up.
24. plant ops is here fixing my clock display on the oven. rock on.
25. didn't even know they knew it was broken.
26. what service!
27. hmmm power just went out...

29. its always embarrassing to have plants ops here when my kitchen is dirty :0(
30. its super windy today
31. my erin is coming to visit next month!!!
32. don't tell jason, but i watched this last monday's Chuck, without him. shhhh...

39. i think i will see Angels and Demons at the movies when it comes out...
40. but i'll see it at 10am, so when i come out it will be daylight and i won't be as freaked out
